Celtic fans rage at new Peter Lawwell development – ‘Blatant liar’, Get out of our club’

Celtic fans on social media want chairman Peter Lawwell to step down after his latest comments about the club’s lack of transfer activity.

Lawwell spoke at Celtic’s annual general meeting on Friday (23 February) and discussed their lack of spending over the January transfer window.

The 64-year-old said that the board at Parkhead “shares the frustrations of supporters” over the “less than anticipated activity in the recent transfer window”.

Celtic’s only permanent signing in the January window was winger Nicolas Kuhn for a £3million fee.

The club revealed record revenue figures of £120million in their 2022-23 financial accounts with £40million in profit and cash reserves of £67million in the bank.

Lawwell explained that Celtic had resources available in January but cited the “unavailability of identified targets”.

Since the close of the January window, Celtic have been leapfrogged by arch-rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic fans on social media were not happy with Lawwell’s comments, with some supporters labelling him a ‘liar’.

Celtic will look to maintain pressure on Rangers when they continue their title challenge with a trip to Motherwell on Sunday afternoon (25 February).

Rangers can extend their lead at the top of the league when they face Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday.
