Celtic fans rave about 24-year-old after scintillating display v Rangers

By Danny Wright

Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to sing the praises of Stuart Armstrong for a brilliant performance against Rangers on Sunday.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring with a powerful low drive in the first-half after being found unmarked just outside the Rangers penalty area by James Forrest.

Not only was Armstrong’s goal brilliant, but his overall worth-ethic to get back and defend, as well as drive his team forward, were in display on Sunday afternoon.

His strike was the 11th time this season he has found the net for the Bhoys in 36 appearances across all competitions.

He came close to opening the scoring earlier on when he hit a free-kick off the woodwork after Wes Foderingham was clearly beaten in the visiting goal.

The Gers keeper was on his toes to stop Armstrong scoring his second goal after some clever link up play with Scott Sinclair and again when he had to beat out a strong long-range attempt.

As a result of Sunday’s draw, Celtic have moved 25 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership and maintained a 33 point gap with themselves and Rangers.

Here is a selection of tweets from Celtic supporters about the attacking midfielder’s performance on Sunday:

In other Celtic news, Neil Warnock has said what he believes has transformed this in-form 27-year-old.
