Celtic fans rave about ‘insane’ stat from Old Firm win vs Rangers – ‘Outrageous’

Celtic fans on social media have heaped praise on Brendan Rodgers for extending an “insane” record against Rangers.

Celtic are on the brink of defending their Scottish Premiership title after beating Rangers 2-1 in Saturday’s Old Firm derby.

The Hoops came out on top after a dramatic clash at Parkhead and are now six points clear of their Glasgow rivals at the top of the table.

Matt O’Riley opened the scoring for the hosts before Daizen Maeda’s cross was turned in by John Lundstram to double their lead just minutes later.

Cyriel Dessers clawed one back for the visitors but Celtic held off a late push from 10-men Rangers to secure all three points.

The win extends Rodgers’ brilliant managerial record against Rangers during his time in the Celtic hot seat.

The Northern Irishman has now won 13 of his 17 Old Firm derbies, with his only defeat against Gers coming back in December 2018.

Prior to that defeat, Rodgers had not lost any of his first 13 clashes against Celtic’s arch-rivals.

Hoops fans on social media were quick to remind their rivals of Rodgers’ impressive record.

Celtic can confirm their status as champions next Wednesday (15 May) when they face Kilmarnock.

Rodgers will also have his sights set on the Scottish Cup final against Rangers later this month (25 May).
