Celtic booked their place in the Scottish League Cup final with a 4-2 win over Hibernian – and fans on Twitter were delighted to see Moussa Dembele back at his best by scoring a double.

The French attacker came off the bench to replace Leigh Griffiths after an hour and scored twice as Hibs looked to find a way back into the game following Mikael Lustig’s first-half double.

Dembele has missed a big chunk of this season through injury after a sensational debut season in Glasgow last term which saw him finish as the Hoops’ top goalscorer across all competitions.

Fans were surprised to see Griffiths start ahead of the 21-year-old at Hampden – and believe the former Fulham star’s performance ends any debate over which one is the better player.

Dembele was linked with a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs over the summer and Celtic fans were delighted to see him remain in Glasgow when the transfer window slammed shut.

Now that the mainstay is fit again, they will be hoping that he can put in a similar standard of performances to last season as he helped Brendan Rodgers’ side to an unbeaten domestic treble.

Dembele’s return will also be a big boost ahead of Bayern Munich visiting Celtic Park on Halloween in the Hoops’ next Champions League fixture.

In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has issued a stern warning to the Hoops about their upcoming fixtures.
