'Our only bright spark' - Celtic fans rave about midfielder after drab win v Morton
By Richard Parks
Celtic fans took to Twitter to hail winger James Forrest’s as the shining light in their 3-0 Scottish Cup win against Morton at Parkhead on Saturday.
Brendan Rodgers’ side struggled to get out of second gear against the second-tier outfit in a low-key clash at Parkhead played in front of half-empty stands.
Morton comfortably quelled Celtic’s attacks until Moussa Dembele broke the deadlock after 62 minutes with a magnificently-taken header from Tom Rogic’s cross.
Dembele then added the second when he won and converted a penalty to book Celtic’s passage in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Odsonne Edouard scored an injury-time third for his seventh goal of the season to round off a scoreline that flattered the home side.

Wide midfielder Forrest, who was deployed on the right flank, played the full 90 minutes of the match as he continued his excellent form which has made him a strong contender for the Scottish player of the year.
A considerable section of Celtic fans hailed Forrest as the team’s one major threat, with “our only bright spark” and “only threat” among the comments about the wide man.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Forrest has been good, looks nippy every time he gets it. Would be great to see Paddy to commit some defenders and disrupt their compact shape.

Aye, need something in final third. Forrest looking most likely to provide it. Rogic still not at it after injury. Good to see Roberts on bench, might get a run out here.

Sinclair playing the part of the sacrificial lamb today. Could have replaced anybody bar Forrest after that first half!

Another turgid half of football. Only bright spots are when Forrest or Rogic are on the ball. The latter’s return is particularly welcome as we’re completely unimaginative in midfield without guys like him. #CelticFC #ScottishCup
