Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has surprisingly named Cristian Gamboa in his starting line-up to face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night – and Hoops fans are delighted.
The Costa Rica international made his return to the starting XI in the weekend win over Dundee and put in an impressive performance down the right-hand side.
With Jozo Simunovic failing to overcome a hamstring injury, Gamboa has kept his place in the side with Mikael Lustig coming in to replace Nir Bitton.
The team news was announced on Celtic’s official Twitter account ahead of kick-off on Wednesday.

Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong have also been named in the line-up after returning from injury with Eboue Kouassi and Callum McGregor making way while Craig Gordon takes his place in goal after sitting out the 1-0 win over Dundee.
However, it’s the appearance of fringe player Gamboa that has got fans talking on Twitter though.

The Costa Rica international has been frozen out this season after representing his country at the Gold Cup over the summer.
The defender was signed from West Brom last season and was a regular feature in Rodgers’ side.
After his performance against Dundee at the weekend, it will be interesting to see how the 27-year-old copes with two games in a matter of days.
In other Celtic news, this Bayern Munich star recalls his previous painful meeting against the Hoops.
