'Sell him in January' - Celtic fans tear into senior player after draw v Hibernian

By Danny Wright

Celtic fans were made to sweat on Saturday as they came close to seeing their unbeaten domestic run end at the hands of Neil Lennon’s Hibernian.

Callum McGregor was the man of the hour in Brendan Rodgers’ side as they earned a 2-2 draw after the Parkhead visitors went 2-1 up towards the end of the game with John McGinn also scoring a brace.

Although there were plenty of positives about the comeback, Celtic supporters have been left raging at the performance of Jonny Hayes, who was called upon to earn his what was only his third Premiership start for the Scottish champions.

Hayes, 30, signed for the Bhoys in the summer from Aberdeen but is yet to win over the majority of supporters after a very quiet start to life at Parkhead.

On Saturday, the Republic of Ireland international was slammed by the fans on Twitter after his display against Hibs, in which he went missing for large periods.

One angry fan even called upon the Hoops to sell the senior player in January as the Parkhead faithful tore into him after the game.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Hayes has made 11 appearances across all competitions for Celtic this season, but is yet to offer much of an impact, especially when compared to the club’s other wingers such as Patrick Roberts, James Forrest and Scott Sinclair.
