Celtic fans react to Jonny Hayes performance v Motherwell

Celtic fans have raved about Jonny Hayes for his performance in the 5-1 hammering of Motherwell at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon.

Hoops fans were given the rare treat of seeing summer signing Hayes, 30, in action against Stephen Robinson’s side as he returned to the starting line-up for the first time in the Premiership since September.

Hayes completed 68 minutes before he was taken off for James Forrest, but arguably had the best game he has had in Glasgow since signing for the Bhoys from Aberdeen over the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has barely used the Republic of Ireland international and he has only made six starts across all competitions as he has played second fiddle to the likes of Patrick Roberts and Forrest.

However with Roberts now out of action for up to three months, there may be more chances for Hayes to impress Rodgers and show the manager why he signed him in the first place.

His performance against Motherwell was a good start, and many fans were happy with what they saw from the winger, however there were some who are still sceptical over him.

Celtic are now seven points clear at the top of the Premiership table and may be hoping that Rangers can get a win against Aberdeen on Sunday to maintain that gap.

In other Celtic news, Rodgers is barking up the wrong tree by pursuing this player and must let Rangers win the January transfer battle.
