Six Celtic players have been named in the Scotland starting line-up against Slovenia – and the club’s supporters were delighted to see their side so strongly represented in the national side.

Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney, Scott Brown, James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths have been included in the starting XI.

Gordon Strachan has included a strong contingence of Celtic players in his side for the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

They recorded a shock 1-1 draw in a international friendly against Canada in their last game, but the Bhoys will be determined to bounce back.

Celtic fans have expressed their joy that so many of their players have been rewarded with a start by Strachan.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Brendan Rodgers has played a major role in Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run this season and managed to get the best out of his squad.

They are on the verge of clinching the league title and have a strong core of Scottish players at the heart of their success.

The Bhoys midfielder Armstrong will earn his first international cap against Slovenia and it is a reward for his great club form.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Scotland will be hoping he can emulate that form for the national side as they look to get their qualification bid back on track.
