‘Livewire’, ‘Easily the best’ – Celtic fans rave over forward display v Hamilton
Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths’ second-half header earned Brendan Rodgers’ side three points against Hamilton on Sunday to take them to within one win of the Scottish Premiership – and Hoops fans were delighted with the striker’s impact after coming off the bench at half-time.
Griffiths scored within two minutes of coming off the bench to replace Jack Hendry to secure a 2-1 for the Parkhead side to restore their thirteen-point lead at the top of the table.
With an Old Firm clash against Rangers next weekend in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, Hoops fans are desperate to see Griffiths return to the starting XI for the trip to the national stadium.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Griffiths’ header was his 13th goal in 35 appearances for Rodgers’ side this season as they march toward a seventh successive title.
After already lifting the Scottish League Cup this season, the Hoops are on the brink of a historic back-to-back treble if they can secure the Scottish Cup.
Griffiths has recently returned to first-team action after a calf injury kept him on the sidelines since the end of January and a start at Hampden would be the first time the Scotland international will have made the starting XI since the 1-0 win over Hibs on January 27th.
