Celtic fans react on Twitter to Forrest display against Rangers

By Harvey Byrne

James Forrest played 68 minutes of Celtic’s Old Firm derby match against Rangers on Saturday, but he left Hoops fans less than impressed.

The 25-year-old didn’t make any impact at all on the match before being brought off for young starlet Patrick Roberts.

Forrest left the pitch with the scoreline still standing at 1-1 with goals from Kenny Miller and Moussa Dembele.

However, Scott Sinclair bagged the winner  in the 2-1 victory just two minutes after Forrest left the pitch and fans on social media wanted him brought off much earlier.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Forrest has been in good form this campaign with six goals and eight assists in 28 appearances.

However, he appeared to be overawed by the occasion at Ibrox and he will be thankful that Celtic’s next game isn’t until January 22 when the Hoops will meet Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup.

The victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side has seen them remain unbeaten after 20 matches in the Premiership.

Furthermore, they are 19 points clear of the second placed Gers with one game in hand over their Glasgow rivals.

The win also marked three wins from three encounters against Rangers for Celtic after they returned to Scotland’s top flight in the summer.

In other Celtic news, Shane Duffy shared his support for the Hoops ahead of the meeting.
