Celtic fans react on Twitter to Griffiths display v Hamilton

By Emma Sanders

Celtic fans were delighted with striker Leigh Griffiths for breaking the deadlock in the 3-0 victory against Hamilton on Saturday – before being disappointed when he was forced off.

The 26-year-old scored the only goal in the first half shortly before the break but he was then substituted by Brendan Rodgers due to a suspected injury.

Moussa Dembele replaced the Scottish international and also got his name on the score-sheet, joining Griffiths and midfielder Stuart Armstrong.

Fans had been pleased with Griffiths’ performance prior to his injury so it came as a major blow for Celtic supporters when he was forced to leave the pitch.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

The Hoops currently hold a 17-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after extending their domination by claiming all three points against Hamilton.

They were down to 10 men for the majority of the second-half when Callum McGregor was sent off for two harsh yellow cards but Celtic never looked like conceding.

Griffiths has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions this season so he will be missed if he is forced to miss Celtic’s next clash against Ross County.

It’s a busy festive period for Rodgers’ players as Celtic take on Ross County and Rangers before the new year, having already played Hamilton, Patrick Thistle and Dundee in the last seven days.

In other Celtic news, fans reacted on Twitter as Dembele was axed in favour of Griffiths.
