'World class' - Celtic fans react as midfielder scores stunner on international duty
By Danny Wright
Tom Rogic scored the decisive goal to see Australia win 3-2 against Saudi Arabia on Thursday – and Celtic fans took to Twitter to share their delight for the midfielder.
The 24-year-old scored a left-footed stunner from the edge of the penalty area in the 64th minute to give the Socceroos an important three points in their quest to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Visitors Saudi Arabia came from behind twice as Tomi Juric scored a first-half brace for Australia.
However there was nothing that the Middle Eastern country could do about the Hoops midfielder’s thunderbolt after the break.

The win still leaves Australia a lot to do to try and qualify for the World Cup next year as they currently sit third in Group B of the Asian qualifying.

They are level on points with both Saudi Arabia and Japan, but have a worse goal difference and occupy a play-off spot as it stands.
Rogic spent a lot of the second half season sidelined with injury and Celtic fans were absolutely delighted to see their player enter the international spotlight on Thursday – with one fan saying that his goal was “world class”.

Rogic moved to Celtic in 2013 from Australian A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners.
He made 37 appearances across all competitions in Brendan Rodgers’ side’s treble-winning campaign, scoring 12 goals and supplying six assists.
Rogic’s most important strike of the campaign arguably came in the final stages of the Scottish Cup final in May.
The Australian midfielder scored in the dying moments of the fixture with Aberdeen to secure the treble, and an unbeaten campaign, for the Hoops.
In other Celtic news, Mark McGhee has compared this Bhoys player to an England legend.
