Celtic fans slam ‘clueless’ Kris Boyd after what he said about Nicolas Kuhn

Celtic fans have hit out at Kris Boyd after the former Rangers man insisted Nicolas Kuhn should have been sent off for his celebrations v Ross County.

Brendan Rodgers’ side fought back to secure a 2-1 win away from home, having been 1-0 down at half-time after a goal from Ronan Hale before second-half strikes from Alistair Johnston and Kuhn.

However, it was the German’s celebrations after finding the winning goal in the 88th minute which grabbed the attention of Boyd.

Already on a yellow card, the 24-year-old leapt into the crowd to join the travelling supporters’ celebrations, which many are insisting should have resulted in a second yellow.

Law 12 in FIFA’s rules on Fouls and Misconduct states that a player must be cautioned for climbing a perimeter fence, while leaving the field of play is not a cautionable offence, but players should return as soon as possible.

However, speaking live on Sky Sports following the game, Boyd insisted Kuhn should have been dismissed for his celebration – questioning why the rules had been ignored.

The rules must have changed, because I thought you got booked for climbing into the crowd,” he commented, “But clearly the rules must have changed.

It was a nervy clash for Celtic fans who were made to wait until the late winning goal, and feared a first defeat of the season when heading into half-time one goal down.

There were scenes of wild celebrations following Kuhn’s winner, which would have been overshadowed had referee Kevin Clancy brandished his red card.

However, after Boyd’s comments live on Sky Sports, Hoops fans including Chris Sutton took to social media to slam his claims.
