Celtic fans stunned by what loanee did last night as footage re-analysed
Celtic fans have been stunned by loanee Johnny Kenny after he scored twice in a Champions League qualifying clash against Vikingur Reykjavik.
The striker joined Shamrock Rovers on loan in January 2023 in a deal which runs until November and has since made 59 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals.
This season, the 21-year-old has scored 12 goals in 26 appearances, proving his worth in front of goal.
As a clip of his opening goal was shared on social media, fans have called for him to return to Parkhead, insisting he could play a part in the first team.
Celtic are in need of at least one striker ahead of the upcoming season and have suggested Kenny could fill in as third choice behind Kyogo Furuhashi and a new forward.
Celtic fans wowed by Johnny Kenny after what he did on loan
Football Insider revealed on 9 July that Celtic are confident of signing Adam Idah from Norwich City and are set to increase their bid.
However, given the standard of Kenny’s “electric” displays, many at Parkhead have called for him to be involved in Brendan Rodgers’ plans upon his return this winter.
Footage of Shamrock Rovers’ clash with Dundalk earlier this month had also been shared on social media, warranting a similar reaction from supporters.
In other news, Celtic have completed the signing of Viljami Sinisalo.
