Celtic fans have urged the club to sign Spanish forward Fernando Torres in the summer after he confirmed that he will leave Atletico Madrid when the season ends.

Torres, 34, is out of contract in a matter of weeks as has been quoted by BBC Sport as admitting that this will be his final season at the La Liga giants.

That has led to Hoops supporters believing that they have a chance of signing the 2010 World Cup winner, who has been a proven goal machine throughout his career.

He has scored 113 goals in 330 total appearances for Atletico and was also on fire at Liverpool with 81 goals in 142 outings.

Now, Celtic fans believe that they should be treated to Torres’ goalscoring exploits and have called on Brendan Rodgers to get a deal done in the summer transfer window with him available for free with one saying that the Bhoys must break the bank to get him.

Torres has slipped down the pecking order at Atletico this season so there is little doubt about why he will not be staying.

He has made 34 appearances in all competitions and scored seven goals, however most of them have come off the bench with just three La Liga starts to his name.
