Celtic fans will love statement in response to Rangers ticket allocation plans

Celtic have released a statement in response to an earlier Rangers statement in regards to cutting the Hoops’ allocation at Ibrox.

The Gers released a statement earlier on their official website, announcing that the allocation for away fans would be cut to less than 1,000 tickets, when previously it had been 7,000.

The Hoops have now followed suit on their official website, claiming that there has been ‘phenomenal level of demand’ to see the Bhoys in action, and a mention of the recently won ‘double treble’, which Hoops fans will love.

No doubt there will be more statements released by both clubs over the summer as the Old Firm rivalry continues to rumble on, even when there’s no football actually on.

Football Insider verdict

The Old Firm never ceases to amaze, as only they would get plenty of press attention from releasing statements about the number of opposing fans set to be in a stadium. From a Hoops point of view, it was inevitable that they would release a statement about cutting the allocation of tickets to Rangers fans from Celtic Park, and there will no doubt be a statement along from the police sooner rather than later. Once this storm in a teacup is over though, the Hoops fans can reflect on the fact that they have won the ‘double treble’, and seem miles ahead of their Glasgow rivals in what is becoming an increasingly one-sided rivalry, which has got possibly even more bitter since the Gers returned to the Scottish Premiership following their liquidation. No doubt the rivalry will be ramped up until Brendan Rodgers faces off against Steven Gerrard for the first-time next season, with the first game set to be played at Celtic Park.
