‘Celtic fans won’t be happy with what Brendan Rodgers has just said – look at this’
Celtic are planning to hold fresh talks over Brendan Rodgers’ future amid concerns that he could leave the club when his contract expires.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that the boss’ recent comments about his position have raised concerns about his long-term future in Glasgow.
Celtic are determined to extend Rodgers’ stay at Parkhead beyond the summer of 2026, and will make efforts to convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Robinson warned Football Insider on 20 July that Rodgers could quit Celtic next summer and has one eye on a potential return to the Premier League.
Despite refusing to rule out his departure, the club are determined to reach an agreement and will hold formal talks about his contract at some stage this season.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Rodgers could leave Celtic if he is not backed in the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers casts doubt on Celtic contract situation
Football Insider revealed in April that Rodgers will demand the Celtic board back him and could grow unhappy at Parkhead if they do not agree.
The summer transfer window may be the club’s last chance to prove to the manager that they can support his ambitions of remaining competitive at the highest level.
Robinson explained that Rodgers’ recent quotes are not filling the club with confidence and he remains non-committal over his future in Scotland.
“It’s an interesting situation this,” he told Football Insider.
“Having a look at some of the quotes that have come out: ‘We’ve touched base on it,’ he said, ‘but it primarily is just a chat-around thing. It’s still a long way out, a year is a long way out.’
“It depends how much you want to read into that.
“The majority of Celtic fans want to keep him, and the club want to keep him there.
“Look at what he’s won, four SPFL titles, four League Cups, three Scottish Cups.
“He’s had an excellent spell and they’ve progressed after last year in the Champions League.
“He’s not selling himself down the river with those quotes.
“He’s not saying ‘I love it here, I’m committing my long-term future here’, because that puts him in a weaker position to negotiate a new contract.
“I think this is one to keep an eye on, because Celtic want to keep him.
“Celtic fans want him to stay and I don’t suspect that he would be adverse to staying there.
“He’s been very, very non-committal either way, but from Celtic’s point of view I’d want him to say ‘We’re going to push on, develop and grow as a unit’.
“I’m not getting that at the moment, the quotes he’s coming out with are a bit vanilla for my liking.”

Crystal Palace’s Odsonne Edouard transfer stance revealed
Despite speculation about Rodgers’ future, Celtic are planning to strengthen in the transfer market, and have once again been linked with a return for Odsonne Edouard.
Football Insider revealed on 21 July that Crystal Palace are planning to sell Edouard following his unsuccessful loan spell at Leicester City last season.
With just one year remaining on his current contract, there is a belief that this is Palace’s last chance to raise funds from his sale as they attempt to drum up interest.
However, Football Insider revealed on 20 July that Celtic are unlikely to re-sign Edouard despite being linked with the move after Rodgers cooled the speculation.
