Celtic goalkeeper news after deal agreed with rival club – sources
Celtic have been forced to shift their attentions in the search for a new first-choice goalkeeper after missing out on Patrick Pentz, sources have told Football Insider.
Pentz, 27, joined Danish champions Brondby on a permanent basis last week after a successful loan spell with the Copenhagen-based side.
Football Insider revealed last month (19 May) that Celtic are working on a deal to sign the shot-stopper – who is starring for Austria at the European Championships in Germany.
But he has now made his loan at Brondby permanent and in a new twist, the Hoops have been forced to look elsewhere in their quest to replace Joe Hart – who retired at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
One target is Martin Dubravka, with Football Insider revealing on Monday (17 June) that Celtic are plotting a move to sign the Newcastle United goalkeeper this summer.

Dubravka has opened the door to a Parkhead move in recent days, claiming he would “consider” a move to Scotland if a “concrete” offer is presented.
Like Pentz, the Slovakia international is the first-choice goalkeeper for his country at Euro 2024.
However, it is believed Celtic will only be able to sanction a move for the 35-year-old if Newcastle accept a reasonable offer and his wage demands are in line with the structure at Parkhead.
Hart kept 18 clean sheets and conceded 50 goals across 49 appearances in all competitions during his final season with the Glasgow giants.
Celtic also have Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain on the books at Parkhead but neither are likely to be promoted to the role of first-choice goalkeeper.
