Celtic handed massive first team boost ahead of potential title party v Rangers - report

Moussa Dembele is set to return to the Celtic squad for the upcoming Old Firm clash against Rangers, according to a report.

The Daily Record is reporting that the 21-year-old Frenchman, who missed Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Hibernian with a slight injury issue, will return in time for what could be a potential title party for the Bhoys.

The striker was a big miss for the Hoops in the loss to Hibernian, and his return for the derby will be a huge boost for the team and the supporters.

The Bhoys go into next Sunday’s match knowing that a victory will see them clinch a seventh consecutive league title, and first against their Old Firm rivals since 1979.

Football Insider verdict

Dembele’s return will be great news for the Hoops, as the team just is not the same when he is not in and around the side. His recent excellent performances against the Gers mean that he is a near certainty to start the game, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he had another field day against a team he has scored seven goals against in his two seasons at his club. No offence to Leigh Griffiths or Odsonne Edouard but at this moment in time they lagging some way behind Dembele’s level and Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers will be delighted that his number one striker is set to return to help the Bhoys try and clinch the league title.
