Dr Dan: Celtic handed cash injection and ‘negotiations’ boost after ‘big’ development
Celtic will receive a cash injection from sponsors and a boost in future commercial negotiations after their League Cup triumph.
So says finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after yesterday’s (19 December) 2-1 win over Hibs at Hampden Park.
Two goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, including an audacious lobbed winner, secured a fifth League Cup title in six years for the Hoops.
Among Celtic’s chief commercial partners are technical supplier Adidas, front-of-shirt sponsor Dafabet, and back-of-shirt sponsor Magners.
Plumley claims that any silverware Celtic get their hands on this season will be a boost in future talks over new sponsorship deals.
“We don’t always know the ins and outs of sponsorship deals directly,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But there is definitely the chance for bonuses. That is often part of the negotiations when you first sign the deal.
“The other side of it is how you leverage that success when seeking new deals. Any form of trophy or big success on the pitch will never hurt in that regard.
“It’s always a chance to promote the brand of the club a little bit further. You’d imagine them using that when they enter negotiations in the future.”

Celtic beat last season’s champions St Johnston as well as Raith Rovers and Hearts on the way to the League Cup showpiece.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have won six Scottish Premiership games on the bounce but are seven points behind Rangers with a one-game advantage.
