Celtic are yet to trigger the option to sign Marcelo Saracchi on a permanent deal.

The Uruguayan full-back has been on loan to the Hoops from Boca Juniors and played 27 times throughout the campaign.

While he was unable to dislodge Kieran Tierney as the first-team left-back, Saracchi proved himself to be a useful option at Parkhead.

Now, according to Planetabj on 24 May, Boca Juniors are still happy to let him part, with the 28-year-old not needed at the Argentine club.

This can now be used to Celtic’s advantage, and they should look to renegotiate the option to buy to secure a potential bargain

Boca Juniors need Marcelo Saracchi gone

The report explains that it is in Boca Juniors’ interest to sell Saracchi this summer.

Several players already occupy the left-back spot for the club, and he also occupies a foreign player slot.

Boca Juniors are therefore keen to receive money for a potential departure. However, this disadvantage can now be used in Celtic’s favour.

Given their need to sell the defender, the Hoops should look to renegotiate the option to buy to get a reduced rate.

This could help them secure a sensational deal for a player who can clearly do a job for the Hoops when called upon.

What are Celtic’s current summer transfer window plans?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are planning a summer spending spree.

The board understand that they need to back their manager to avoid further fan unrest and underperformance in Europe.

While it is undecided who will be in the dugout for the 2026-27 campaign, sufficient funds will be provided to avoid another season like 2025-26.

A director of football is also expected to be appointed, with many of their key transfer business expected to be done towards the end of the window.

Celtic are also set to play in the Champions League playoffs in August, and qualification to the league phase would see additional funds come into the club, which could then be spent on more potential signings.

However, it remains to be seen who Celtic will appoint as their new manager, and if they will opt to keep Saracchi at the club permanently.
