Sources: Celtic ready ‘huge’ Ange Postecglou offer after Premier League club move

Celtic are keen to tie Ange Postecoglu down to an improved long-term deal after he was shortlisted by Brighton, sources have told Football Insider.

The 57-year-old has been linked with Premier League clubs and elite teams overseas following his transformation of the Scottish giants.

Celtic want to make it harder and more expensive to lure their manager, who they expect to be on the hit list of many clubs this season.

Postecoglu was appointed on a one-year rolling contract in July 2021, when he became Neil Lennon’s permanent replacement.

The move has paid dividends for both parties, and the Australian’s reputation has soared.

Celtic are planning to increase Postecoglu’s wages with with one source said is a “huge” offer and are keen to insert a release clause into any new contract.

That would effectively mean rivals would have to pay a ‘transfer fee’ to lure Postecoglu from Parkhead.

Postecoglu was on the radar of Brighton before they eventually appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager before the international break.

The Italian signed a four-year deal with the Seagulls following the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea.

Postecoglu has enhanced his reputation during his 14 months at Celtic, where he steered the club to the Scottish Premiership title at the first attempt.

The Glasgow giants also won the Scottish League Cup in his first campaign and they have begun the new season in style with a thumping 4-0 win over Rangers in the league.
