Celtic idol eviscerates Michael Beale as new Rangers details emerge – ‘garbage’
Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers can’t afford any new signings this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Michael Beale’s claims that the club will spend big in the summer are “nonsense”.
As quoted by the Daily Record (4 April), Beale insisted that his squad will be “completely different” for pre-season.
The Light Blues boss reaffirmed his need for fresh blood following the 3-2 defeat to Celtic on Saturday (8 April).
As quoted by the Daily Record (9 April), Beale said his side “need to recruit” at the end of the season and come out of the upcoming window “a lot stronger”.
The Gers welcomed new arrivals Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin in the winter window but are also set to lose as many as seven senior players for free when their contracts expire in the summer.
But McAvennie doesn’t think Beale can live up to his promises.
“I do not think they have got the money,” he told Football Insider.
“The manager is coming out and talking about how it is going to be the biggest spending they have ever had, what a lot of nonsense – garbage.

“Unless he gets a lot of players out, they can’t bring players in. They are still trying to play catch up with Celtic and it is a hard job at the moment.
“They are trying to spend money that they have not got. Maybe they are just better keeping the players that are there and say no more spending at the moment to try and get the club on a level footing.“
