Celtic idol issues 'huge' transfer claim after Alexandro Bernabei announcement
Frank McAvennie has claimed Celtic are a “worldwide” club after the signing of Alexandro Bernabei.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the signing of foreign players is “huge” for the club’s profile.
On Thursday (30 June), the Hoops confirmed the signing of Bernabei on a five-year deal from Lanus.
The left-back will become the first Argentinian player to ever play for the club.
Celtic have also welcomed Portuguese winger Jota to Parkhead following a successful loan spell with the club last season.
He has also put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Celts, keeping him at the club until 2027.

They join Ange Postecoglou’s other international signings Kyogo Furuhashi, Yosuke Ideguchi, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate.
When asked if signing international players was good for the club, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Of course.
“Getting the Japanese boys was huge for the club. Only Ange would know the market over there and he brought four of them in. I think he’ll bring somebody else in [from Japan].
“So it’s great that they’ve got this Argentinian boy in and hopefully he can spread the word in Argentina about Celtic.
“Listen we’re huge worldwide anyway. Wherever you go there’s a fan club. This will just make it a bit bigger and a bit more people that didn’t know Celtic will now know them and that can only be good.“
