Celtic in ‘advanced discussions’ to sign Bournemouth player
Celtic are poised to sign Bournemouth defender Julian Araujo on loan for the remainder of the season in a boost for Wilfried Nancy.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes the signing would be a positive for the manager.
Araujo could become Nancy’s first signing at Celtic, with the Frenchman looking at bolstering his squad in the January window.
The Celtic board have been under huge fan pressure this season partly due to their lack of summer transfer business, and Nancy has lost five of his first seven games in charge at the club.
Julian Araujo backed to succeed at Celtic
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – expects Araujo to sign for Celtic.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Celtic need a new right-back in their squad.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he would be a great player for them if they can get him and I’m hearing that they’re in advanced discussions, so I do expect that one to go through.
“I think he will do well up in Scotland, and think he’s a good player and I think Celtic need him in that sort of position.
“So I would expect that one to go forward, and I think it would be a good sign if Nancy can get that one across the line, that would be helpful.”

Wilfried Nancy set for first Rangers clash
Nancy is in need of reinforcements following Celtic’s 2-0 defeat at Motherwell, which puts pressure on the Hoops to beat Rangers next.
It will be Nancy’s first taste of the Glasgow derby after Brendan Rodgers and interim manager Martin O’Neill took charge of the previous two meetings this season.
Rangers could move level on points with Celtic with victory, in what could prove a vital match in the Scottish Premiership title race.
