Celtic in Euro bargain hunt to sign colossus from PL heavyweights - report
Celtic are set to battle it out with Bundesliga side Leipzig to sign 16-year-old Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror reports that the player is stalling on signing a new deal with the Premier League side, which has alerted the Hoops and Leipzig to his availability, amongst a host of clubs.
The player is seen as one for the future who has the chance of making the breakthrough at the London club and the 6ft 5in goalkeeper has already played for England under-17s.
The player might be highly-rated by those at the Gunners, but there is a chance he could leave them for nothing at the end of the season and the Hoops could swoop in.
Football Insider verdict
Okonkwo definitely seems like a player who would be signed with one eye on the future, if he moves to the Hoops in the summer. 16-year-old is very young for a goalkeeper, and he would no doubt be in the development squad for a few seasons if he was to make the move to Glasgow. It is good to see the Hoops preparing for the future by looking for players who are as highly-rated as this Arsenal prospect seems to be, but only time will tell if the story will prove to be correct or if he turns out to be just another in the long line of names who will be linked with the Hoops throughout the summer.
