Celtic in ‘desperate’ position after Giorgos Giakoumakis transfer update – pundit
Paul Robinson fears Celtic will not be able to offer Giorgos Giakoumakis the money he will be able to earn elsewhere.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 28-year-old “is in a position of power” given his “exceptional” performances this season.
According to The Scottish Sun (13 December), contracts talks between the Hoops and Giakoumakis have stalled.

It is also reported that the striker could be offered life-changing money to move to Saudi Arabia.
Giakoumakis’ current contract at Parkhead runs until the end of June 2026.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Robinson said: “Giakoumakis has done exceptionally well since he has been there.
“He is in a position of power now because he has done that well. There will be many clubs keeping an eye on what is going on. It is up to Celtic to make him an offer that he desires. Otherwise he may move on.

“Financially, Rangers and Celtic are not on par with the top-half of the Premier League. It is always difficult for them to compete when it comes to contracts.
“I’m sure Ange Postecoglou is desperate to keep hold of him for as long as he can. They are in a strong position with his current deal so I don’t think they will be in a rush to sell if they can’t agree new terms.”
In other news, Celtic star Matt O’Riley has been tipped to join Newcastle United in £10million-plus deal.
