Celtic are in the hunt to sign goalkeeper Scott Bain on a permanent deal in the summer when his contract at Dundee expires, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that Hibernian and Hearts are also hoping to snap up Bain, 26, with him just months away from being a free agent.
Bain is currently on loan at Celtic and made his debut in the Old Firm win against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, making two crucial saves in the latter stages of the game to deny the deadly duo of Alfredo Morelos and Jason Cummings.
The former Aberdeen shot-stopper has proven himself to be a solid option between the sticks in Scotland’s top-flight, impressing at Dundee and now Parkhead, making over 100 appearances in the Scottish Premiership.
He had a falling out with Dee boss Neil McCann and was sent on loan to Hibs on January 1, but in a bizarre deadline day triple deal, he was allowed to leave Easter Road to go to Celtic on a temporary basis until the summer.
Football Insider verdict
Bain is a very good goalkeeper and it is baffling that Dorus de Vries was played ahead of him in the last couple of months while Craig Gordon has been injured. When the Scotland international is back to full fitness, it will be very interesting to see whether Rodgers sticks with Bain after his heroics against Rangers or recall the experienced head of Gordon. Bain is a much better option going forward though so giving him plenty of game time between now and the summer will mean that he will be much more likely to sign for the Bhoys ahead of Hibs and Hearts.
In other Celtic news, this lethal top-flight forward would be the perfect summer signing for the Hoops.
