Celtic in last-gasp talks to sign Damir Redzic as personal terms agreed

Celtic are attempting to complete a deal for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Tomas Cvancara joined Celtic on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach last week, finally confirming the arrival of a striker at Parkhead.

But Martin O’Neill has since confirmed that he hopes to see another attacker arrive at Celtic Park before the deadline, as he attempts to chase down Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

Celtic have made contact over Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh, but Norwich City‘s interest appears to be more advanced.

Kieron Bowie was linked with Celtic, but the Scot instead joined Serie A side Hellas Verona on Friday in a Hibernian record deal.

Celtic set for talks over back-up option Damir Redzic

Celtic are set for further talks on Sunday as they look to complete the signing of Ghedjemis from Frosinone.

The French winger has scored eight goals in Serie B this season so far, and, at just 23, would be a strong signing for the Bhoys.

According to Sky Sports, Frosinone are looking for a deal worth around £6.5million if they are to sell Ghedjemis, with most of that paid up front.

Celtic are keen to pay a lower fee for the winger, who featured against Virtus Entella on Saturday. The 23-year-old has just six months left on his contract, but Frosinone hold a club option of an extra year.

Sky Sports also reports, however, that transfer chiefs at Parkhead are in talks with Dunajska Streda for Damir Redzic, who is seen as the back-up option.

Red Bull Salzburg have agreed personal terms with the winger, but are struggling to agree on a fee with the Slovakian side.

What type of player is Redzic?

Redzic, 22, has found the net seven times in Nike Liga for Dunajska Streda so far this season.

His debut for the Hungarian international team came in November, and he is formally of Ferencvaros‘ academy system.

Direct and pacey, Redzic will run at his defender, and he is extremely hard to catch once he gets into some space.

When in the area to shoot, the Hungarian is deadly, capable of shooting from range with staggering power, or slotting calmly past an onrushing goalkeeper.

Redzic may well be the back-up option for Celtic, but there is nothing about him that comes across as second best.
