It is very rare that a kit launch throws up any interesting aspects at all, but this has all changed with Celtic’s recent kit launch.

At the front and centre of the launch, as much as mainstays like Scott Brown and Moussa Dembele, was the January loan signing from Chelsea Charly Musonda.

If you look at the publicity for the kit on New Balance football’s Twitter account, Musonda is very prominent.

There is always a danger in reading too much into adverts, after all Dembele may end up leaving the Hoops in the summer, but it does say something when a player who has featured so rarely for the Bhoys is put into such a prominent advertising campaign.

Musonda joined the Hoops in a blaze of publicity in an 18 month loan deal from Chelsea, but he has rarely featured, as manager Brendan Rodgers has stuck with the players who done so well for him last season.

The Belgian has looked good in cameos though, most prominently when his superb flighted pass set up Callum McGregor to score the only goal of the game when the Hoops defeated Zenit in the Europa League.

Perhaps we won’t see the best of Musonda until next season, and Rodgers plans to make him a pivotal part of the first-team squad, it is too early for that but his place in the advertising campaign shows that he is still highly-thought of by someone at Celtic Park.
