Celtic: Kris Boyd blasts Tomas Cvancara for lack of ‘belief,’ his future is surely settled
Celtic will be in no doubt over the future of striker Tomas Cvancara after his performance in Sunday’s 2-1 win away at Dundee.
The Czech star has had a mixed start to his time at Parkhead, as he has two goals and one assist from his opening eight league games since joining on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in January.
Martin O’Neill has regularly trusted the 25-year-old to start games since his arrival in Scotland, but he was quickly dragged off the pitch just before the hour mark in Sunday’s win.
Cvancara was replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho, who went on to score a vital late winner for the Bhoys to keep them in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
Celtic want to add new strikers to their group in a bid to refresh their attack this summer, and a permanent move for the loanee is an option that is available to them.

Cvancara’s loan deal at Celtic Park contains a clause allowing for a permanent move to be triggered at the end of the season.
However, after the latest round of evidence from the win over Dundee, the Bhoys will surely be looking to go in a different direction for next season.

Cvancara struggled desperately at the top of the pitch, as he failed to score from his four shots and also spurned one big chance during his 58 minutes of action.
That came in a one-on-one opportunity against Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken, when he dinked the ball over the onrushing gloveman, but could only find the post, despite having the whole goal to aim at.
Kris Boyd labelled the attempt as “terrible” during his analysis on Sky Sports’ coverage, while he also suggested that Cvancara looked like he was playing with “no belief” that he would score.
He was also not his usual self when it came to his physicality, as he lost seven out of his eight duels throughout his cameo.
Cvancara’s finishing is leaving a lot to be desired at the moment, and with his hold-up play starting to falter as well, Celtic will surely have already decided that they won’t be taking up their option to buy.
Bhoys already working to correct January moves
Football Insider revealed at the end of March that Celtic want to make big signings this summer in a bid to get the fans back onside, especially if they fail to lift the league title.
Much of their work in the market ahead of next season will surely have to come in the attacking areas, as the recruitment team try to correct the errors they made in January.
The Bhoys needed a big winter window to ensure they could keep pace at the top of the table, but the signings of Cvancara, Junior Adamu and Joel Mvuka have all largely failed so far.
Benjamin Nygren is the only member of the squad to have surpassed the seven-goal mark in league action, and that is something that simply must be addressed if they are to have a successful season next term.
