Celtic legend John Hartson has claimed Old Firm match-winner Odsonne Edouard will receive a huge boost in his confidence after the 20-year-old’s winning goal clinched a famous victory at Ibrox.
Despite being reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Jozo Simunovic, the Bhoys were able to pull off a massive 3-2 victory at the home of their bitter rivals with the 20-year-old striker coming off the bench to score the winning goal.
Hartson, as quoted by the Evening Times, thinks that the goal will do wonders for the on-loan PSG striker’s career.
“I mean, what a feeling that must have been for Odsonne” the Welshman said.
“To come off the bench in a game like that and when you are really under the cosh, it must have been so special to go and score the winner for your team.”
Hartson himself knows about scoring winners against the Hoops’ most bitter rivals, as he scored the winning goal against Rangers on four occasions during his time with the Bhoys.
The Hoops are now nine points ahead of their Glasgow rivals in the Scottish Premiership title race with the sides set to meet again in a double header in April.

Edouard must be on cloud nine after that goal, which sealed one of the Bhoys’ greatest ever victories as Ibrox. It’s not often that the Hoops have won at the home of their greatest rivals when reduced to ten men, so the player has to take huge credit for that. Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, who has mostly kept the 20-year-old on the bench this season, must be massively tempted to start Edouard in a partnership with fellow French striker Moussa Dembele for the rest of the season, as not only did the pair combine to devastating effect against Rangers, but they also worked well in the previous match against Morton, it has all the makings of a dynamic partnership.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops are considering making Edouard’s loan move permanent
