Celtic and Dundee are in discussions about 22-year-old centre-back Jack Hendry, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun’s live transfer blog (31/01 01:36) on their website is claiming that the Hoops are trying to thrash out a deal with Dundee, with the two sides locked in talks over the former Wigan enforcer.
The blog claims that Dundee are wanting around £1.5million for the player, who has 18 months left to go on his contract, but that the Hoops are confident that the Dens Park side will accept less as the transfer window comes to a close.
Brendan Rodgers has been an admirer of the player for some time, and the Bhoys reportedly had a bid for the player rejected earlier in the window, a bid that Dundee boss Neil McCann claimed was “very low“.
Football Insider verdict
Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to see this move go ahead. He has been a fan of Hendry for some time, and seems determined that the player will be a part of his Celtic squad for the future. As Hendry is only 22-years-old, there is the chance that he could become a mainstay of the side for years to come, perhaps in partnership with current Hoops centre-back Kristoffer Ajer. If for any reason the transfer doesn’t go through Rodgers will be livid, and he will probably also go back in for the player in the summer. He will be hoping that it doesn’t come to that though, and that Hendry is paraded in the green and white Hoops on Thursday.
