Rangers man hails ‘amazing Ibrox fans’ after confirmed Porteous news

Alan Hutton has claimed moving to Rangers is a “big draw” compared to clubs down south.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said a move to Ibrox will be “high up” on Ryan Porteous’ list.

As reported by the Scotsman (25 December), the 23-year-old has been loosely linked with a move to Ibrox and new boss Michael Beale is believed to be an admirer of the centre-back.

According to the Sun (31 December), Watford are ready to step up their interest in the defender and could sign him on a pre-contract deal this month.

Porteous has just over five months left on his contract at Easter Road and on 26 November Hibs confirmed he will not be signing a new deal.

When asked if Porteous would prefer a move away from the Scottish top flight, Hutton told Football Insider:I think you are always going to weigh up your options.

You have to wait and see who is going to come in for you and then make your decision off the back of that.

But I think an opportunity to go to a team like Rangers, playing in front of those amazing fans, European football. You are going to try and win titles, I think that is a big draw in itself.

I am pretty sure that will be high up on his list.

Rangers

Porteous has made 23 appearances for Hibs this season.

He has scored three goals and provided one assist in those outings.
