Celtic can prove title race talk is just figment of imagination

COMMENT

Going by the talk from some at Rangers in the past few weeks, you would think that they were the side going into Sunday’s Old Firm game with a six point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and not Celtic.

With manager Graeme Murty revealing, as reported by the Daily Record, that the Gers team cheered the Scottish Cup semi-final draw which pit the sides against each other, they seems to have a lot of confidence at the moment.

And they should have confidence, as they are playing good football. But then you remember, just last month they lost 2-1 at home to Hibernian – not the best result for a team going for a title.

It seems that some relatively poor Celtic performances in the last few weeks have given the impression that the team are on the decline, but they still have a decent lead at the top of the table, with a game in hand.

If Rangers are able to put their words into action and defeat Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, then perhaps you can say that there is a title race.

But if Celtic win – which they are more than capable of doing – the title race was just a figment of some people’s imagination.
