Celtic must hijack reported approach made for PL defender after manager revelation

Celtic have really struggled to find their a solid centre-back partnership this season and although Marvin Compper has arrived, Brendan Rodgers must still try to find ways to strengthen his back line.
Jozo Simunvovic and Erik Sviatchenko have both been widely linked with leaving Parkhead in the January transfer window, and if both of them were to go, that would leave the Hoops with just Dedryck Boyata, Kristoffer Ajer and Compper on their books.
Rodgers must make an effort to sign up Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe this month on a loan deal if they want to really make sure that they don’t lose sights of winning a second domestic treble in a row.
Tuazebe, 20, is one of the most-highly rated young defenders in the Premier League and United manager Jose Mourinho has recently revealed that he would let the England Under-21 international exit Old Trafford on a temporary basis.
The Mirror claimed on their live transfer blog on Saturday [01:55pm] that Aston Villa have approached Man United with an enquiry to sign Tuanzebe, and that is something that Celtic must try to hijack before it becomes too late.
He would be a perfect addition to the Parkhead backline in domestic competitions due to his ball-playing ability.
Scottish sides have started to press Celtic a bit more in recent fixtures and Rodgers needs a cool head in his defence to play the ball out to the wide-men and midfielders.
Tuanzebe fits that mould exactly and the Bhoys would storm to an unbeaten second half of the season if they get him in.
In other Celtic news, this midfielder is edging closer to leaving Parkhead to join a title-chasing club.
