Why Celtic must sign defender reportedly made available by PL giants for £7m

Celtic are expected to have a big summer of trying to keep hold of their best players following an unbelievable domestic campaign.
Speculation has already began to mount as the transfer window gets closer with some of Brendan Rodgers’ defenders attracting attention from south of the border.
However Premier League giants Chelsea, according to OwnGoalNigeria, have recently made Kenneth Omeruo available if a club is willing to spend £7million on him – and Celtic should jump at this opportunity.
The 23-year-old centre-back has never made a first team appearance for the Londoners and has been a victim of their over-used loan system but has still proved to be a success wherever he has gone.
This season has seen Omeruo play for Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig and the 33-times Nigerian international has helped them up to a respectable sixth place while keeping a fairly decent defensive record.

He’s made 24 appearances this term and scored one goal which came in a win over Adanaspor in February.
Omeruo has also had experience playing at Middlesbrough in the Championship, which is a league that is not too dissimilar to the Scottish Premiership and playing against the likes of Lionel Messi at the 2014 World Cup also did wonders for his development.
What’s more pertinent is that Rodgers could be facing the loss of a few of his centre-backs this summer with the Mail reporting that Jozo Simunovic is wanted by Newcastle, West Brom and Crystal Palace and Erik Sviatchenko confirmed that he was wanted by a number of teams in January.
The Bhoys will probably have to face the reality of losing one of the star centre-backs in the summer in what will be the fall-out of a seriously good domestic season, which could still end unbeaten and with a treble of silverware.
Omeruo should be the man to replace whoever goes out though, as he’s young and experienced – which is the perfect recipe for a top-quality Scottish Premiership centre-back.
In other Celtic news, a midfielder has agreed to fresh terms at Parkhead.
