Celtic news: McAvennie blown away by Kyogo and Hoops teammate

Celtic forwards Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah will hit top form sooner rather than later after confidence-boosting Old Firm win.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Celtic and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie admits that he ‘loves’ watching Kyogo, 29, play and fully expects new signing Idah, 23, to make his way into the starting eleven soon.

Kyogo bagged in first goal of the season in Celtic’s 3-0 win over bitter rivals Rangers on Sunday, slotting home from close range following a lightning-quick counterattack.

Idah replaced Kyogo in the 77th minute to make his first Old Firm appearance since making the £9.5million move from Norwich City in the summer.

Celtic have plenty of options with Kyogo Furuhashi & Adam Idah upfront

Both players made a combined total of 35 goal contributions across all competitions for Celtic last season, with Idah spending the second half of the season on loan at the Glasgow club.

Celtic now sit five points ahead of Rangers as already look set to secure their fourth Scottish Premier League title in a row.

“I love watching the boy (Kyogo) play”, McAvennie told Football Insider.

“What an interview after the game, it’s great to see someone so excited who loves playing football.

“Long may it continue, I hope he doesn’t get injured.

“Idah will get fitter, he’s got to get up to speed with the team I think but only games will do that so he will get his time.

“It’s promising, it’s looking good at the moment, and it’s going to be interesting know that Aberdeen are hot on our heels, matching Celtic stride for stride.

“I know it’s only been four games but they’ve not done that for a long time so it will be interesting come October when Celtic meet them at Celtic Park.”
