Celtic news: Mills issues ‘incredible’ claim after update on potential Scott Brown return

Danny Mills has claimed a Celtic return for Scott Brown as a coach would benefit both parties.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England full-back admitted Brown would find the transition from playing to full-time coaching “incredibly difficult” but there is no better place to learn than Celtic.

The iconic midfielder, 36, left his role as a player-coach Aberdeen earlier this month after manager Stephen Glass was sacked.

He revealed via Instagram on Friday (11 March) he would now take some time before making his next move.

As quoted by Sky Sports on Thursday (10 March), Ange Postecoglou insisted the door would always be open on a return to the club he spent 14 years at as a player.

“If you get him in at the youth team or maybe part of the first-team coaching staff but not the main coach then it’s great for him to learn his trade and understand,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Going from playing to coaching is so different, so, so different. From being a part of the session to putting the session on and understanding what you want from the session and how to get what you want out of it, even putting the cones in the right place, is incredibly difficult and another world.

“Maybe to come back in and learn at a slightly lower level would be good for him and it would be great for Celtic to have him around because he brings a lot more than just coaching and experience.”

Brown played over 600 times across all competitions for Celtic and won 22 domestic honours with the club.

That includes 10 Scottish Premiership titles, six Scottish Cups and six Scottish League Cups.
