Celtic news: Pundit calls for ‘massive’ SPFL action after what he saw against Rangers
Paul Robinson has called for the SPFL to step in after Celtic beat Rangers in the absence of away fans on Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper said “it’s a massive shame” for Old Firm games to be staged in front of only home supporters.
Celtic went top of the Scottish Premiership after a 3-0 win over Rangers at Parkhead.
Away fans were absent from the highly-anticipated fixture – as they have been for all meetings between the pair this season.
Speaking on talkSPORT (3 February), ex-Crystal Palace owner called the clubs’ ban on away fans “stupid” and “childish.”
Jordan claimed the SPFL have the ability to enforce both sets of clubs to facilitate away fans in such fixtures and urged them to do so.
Robinson supported Jordan’s call for change.
“It’s a massive shame,” he told Football Insider.
“The supporters make that game as special as it is. The atmosphere was incredible last night but it would have been even better with away fans.
“I don’t know why they haven’t come to an agreement now. They need away fans there. Both sets of supporters would agree on the matter, I’m sure of it.

“A lot of people go to football matches for the fan interaction. They don’t even watch the game. They just have banter with the opposition supporters. A lot of fans enjoy that and it is part of the experience.
“I do not understand why the SPFL doesn’t step in. It needs to change.”
