Celtic news: Pundit sure on Ange Postecoglou agreeing deal after Chelsea update
Alan Hutton has backed Ange Postecoglou to sign a long-term deal with Celtic at the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said Postecoglou won’t want to “rock the boat” as his side push for a historic eighth treble.
The 57-year-old is on a 12-month rolling contract and has been eyed up by numerous Premier League clubs who have parted ways with their manager.
The Australian has verbally committed himself to the club and claimed people will be surprised by how long he stays in Glasgow.
But, as relayed by the Guardian (22 April), the Hoops boss has now been included on the shortlist to take over at Chelsea.
Although the club are believed to be leaning towards Mauricio Pochettino, Postecoglou was a surprise inclusion on the shortlist after Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique dropped out of the running.
But Hutton backed Postecoglou to stay at Parkhead.
“He seems to me to be a guy who has always put the team first, it is not about him it is about what the team go and do,” he told Football Insider.
“At the end of the day they are going for a treble and I do not think he would want to rock the boat or upset it.
“It is a situation where he can wait until the end of the season. To me it looks like he is going to stay for another few years.

“I know there is going to be a lot of interest in him and it just shows you the job that he has done.
“But I believe a new contract will be sorted in the summer and he just wants to solely concentrate on the football side of it and then he can sort himself out at the end of the season.“
