Celtic news: Pundit surprised by Giorgos Giakoumakis twist – ‘it doesn’t sit right’
Alan Hutton has claimed something isn’t right with Giorgos Giakoumakis at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender said fans are right to be annoyed that the Hoops could sell Giakoumakis for just £3million.
According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph (16 January), the Celts have accepted an offer from Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds for the 28-year-old.

The initial fee is believed to be £3m and Giakoumakis is believed to be weighing his options amid strong interest from Atlanta United.
The striker’s Parkhead contract runs until 2026 but attempts to tie down the Greece international to a longer-term deal have failed.
Hutton insisted Celtic could demand a higher price for the attacker.
“I think he is still one of the best finishers they have got at the club,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he gives you something different than what is already there. He is a different type of striker, a number nine that I think you need in your ranks.
“I am still surprised that he is allowed to leave. It is different if a team comes in with £9/£10million then you can understand that they can’t turn that down.
“For a fee of £3m think the fans are right to be annoyed. It is a surprising one. The whole situation does not quite sit right but it does seem quite low.“

Giakoumakis has made 19 league appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season.
He has scored six goals and provided one assist in those outings.
