Celtic news: Pundit verdict on Moritz Jenz exit after latest twist

Alan Hutton has insisted Ange Postecoglou won’t stand in the way of Moritz Jenz if he wants to leave Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said the Hoops look “healthy” in central defence and cutting Jenz’s loan deal short would not be a problem.

According to the Daily Record (24 January), the 23-year-old is set to quit Parkhead and return to Lorient this month.

The defender joined the Celts in the summer from the French side on a season-long loan deal that included the option to buy.

Jenz has been grown frustrated with his lack of game time in recent weeks and the arrival of Yuki Kobayashi has pushed him further down the pecking order.

Hutton insisted Postecoglou will let the German leave this month.

They obviously brought in Kobayashi so it is one of those where they have brought in another body already,” he told Football Insider.

It is an Ange signing. Jenz has done well when he has come in.

“If the manager does not see him as part of the plans moving forward and there is an opportunity for him to go back and get a permanent move, I do not think Ange will stand in his way.

You see with the likes of [Josip] Juranvoic, he brings in a replacement and then lets them go. He is not standing in anyone’s way. I think in centre-back they look quite healthy so I do not see it being a problem.
