Rodgers must be ruthless: Celtic should offload 25-year-old after Eboue signing
COMMENT By Will Butcher
Celtic should cash in on midfielder Nir Bitton after confirming the signing of teenager Kouassi Eboue from Russian side Krasnodar.
Eboue, 19, signed for the Bhoys last week as Brendan Rodgers finally ended his midfield dilemma of finding a permanent partner for captain Scott Brown.
A combative midfielder, Eboue is known for his ability to sit at the base of a midfield and dictate the tempo of play while offering a defensive blanket over his defence.
With Eboue at the beginning of his career, his energy will compliment Scott Brown’s slower presence in the middle of the park.
Able to get around the pitch and hassle more so than Brown, the Scotland international will be able to sit deeper as Eboue looks to force his opponents into making a mistake.

The Ivorian offers both pace and stamina, which gives him the ability to constantly apply pressure. That will give Brown time and space at the base of the midfield to dictate Celtic’s possession of the ball, as he does so well for the Hoops.
Offering experience in the Europa League after his time with Krasnodar, Eboue has the experience that Rodgers is desperate to add to his squad ahead of a potential Champions League campaign in 2017-18.
With Eboue able to get the best out of captain Brown, that should see the end of Israel international Nir Bitton’s Celtic spell.
Rodgers should be ruthless – it’s the best move for the club, but also for the midfielder, who surely won’t want to sit on the sidelines for the forseeable future with other clubs interested in his signature.
In other Celtic transfer news, the Hoops are in talks to sign this £12million forward.
