Celtic have agreed a potential eight-figure deal to sign Odsonne Edouard, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that when add-ons and a sell-on clause are included the deal should reach a total of £10million.
The Hoops have agreed the fee with PSG, and according to the report all that stands in the way of the deal being completed is the Frenchman’s personal terms.
The Bhoys are reportedly confident that won’t be an issue though, and the deal could be rubber stamped within a matter of days.
Edouard was a big success for the Hoops in his loan deal which came to an end at the end of last season, scoring 11 goals.
Football Insider verdict
It still feels a bit surreal to be reading about Celtic potentially paying up to £10million for a player. It is against what the club has done in recent years, as the policy has been to buy players for a smallish fee then sell them on for a huge profit. It could prove difficult to do that with Odsonne Edouard but Brendan Rodgers and the money men at Celtic Park don’t seem bothered about that. The move for Edouard is really a watershed moment in the Hoops history, as it shows that the club is now in a completely different financial environment than the rest of Scottish football. Edouard seems to be bought with European football in mind, as he has already proved that he is good enough to find the back of the next in Scotland. It will be interesting to see if the 20-year-old Frenchman leads the line for the Bhoys when the Champions League qualifiers begin in less than a month’s time.
