Celtic player ratings v Hibernian: 6/10 midfielder anonymous in Hampden win

By James Black

Celtic booked their place in the Scottish League Cup final with a comfortable 4-2 win over Hibernian at Hampden Park on Saturday.

A first-half double from Mikael Lustig had the Hoops practically in the final before half-time despite not being at their best.

Moussa Dembele scored shortly after replacing Leigh Griffiths in response to Anthony Stokes giving Hibs hope of a comeback from the penalty spot.

Hibs scored a second through Oli Shaw to set up a nervy ending before Dembele sealed the win with a cool finish four minutes before full-time.

Hibs tried to push Celtic back and stay in the game but two goals coming from set-pieces by the Hoops undid all of Neil Lennon’s side’s hard work.

Goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw really didn’t help his side with a monumental howler at Celtic’s second-goal – letting the ball bounce off him and into the net – just as Hibs were looking at their most threatening.

However the Hoops weathered the storm in style and booked their place in the final to play either Rangers or Motherwell.
