By Editor Wayne Veysey
Football Insider rates the Celtic players in their 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Craig Gordon 5 – Beaten at his near post for the Iheanacho goal, which he should have pawed away from danger.
Mikael Lustig 6 – Got forward well and provided a regular outlet on the right flank despite having to keep a close eye on Leroy Sane.
Jozo Simunovic 7 – Defended solidly and did not look out of place at this level.
Erik Sviatchenko 6 – Made some important interceptions but got caught out of position on a few occasions.
Emilio Izaguirre 5 – Had some hairy moments but kept his head above water.
Stuart Armstrong 7 – Maintained the strong impression he has made this season with his touch and vision in central midfield.
Scott Brown 6 – Showed fight and determination in the middle of the park. It was a typical performance from the Scotland international and those qualities rubbed off on his teammates.
Patrick Roberts 9 – Lit up the Champions League with his sensational goal after four minutes. Looked like a mini Messi as he cut inside on his left foot from the right flank, weaved past defenders as if they weren’t there and slammed a shot into the back of the net. Set the tone for a mesmerising display against his parent club.
Tomas Rogic 7 – Provided a physical presence in the middle of the park and linked up well with Dembele.
James Forrest 6 – Showed tidy feet with consistently hurting his inexperienced opponent.
Moussa Dembele 7 – Maintained his impressive form in the Champions League with a fine display as the point of the attack. Caused City problems with his movement and hold-up play and should have scored.
SUBS:
Mackay-Steven for Forrest (51mins) – 8
Griffiths (for Dembele 72mins) – 6
