Celtic player ratings v Rangers: 24-year-old is 9/10
By Danny Wright
Football Insider rates the Celtic players out of 10 following their 1-1 draw with Rangers at Parkhead on Sunday.
Craig Gordon 8 – A brilliant reaction save with his foot to deny Martyn Waghorn putting Gers ahead at an important phase of the game. Gordon proved he is easily Scotland’s best goalkeeper with a series of good saves. He was massively let down by his defence for Clint Hill’s goal.
Mikael Lustig 6 – It was a quiet game for Lustig as most of the play, from both Celtic and Rangers, came down the opposite side of the pitch. But still, he had a job to do and he did it well.
Dedryck Boyata 6 – The former Manchester City man looked a lot more solid than his centre-back partner in the heart of the Celtic defence. However the lack of communication among the defence was key in Hill’s late goal.
Erik Sviatchenko 5 – Looked uncomfortable for most of the game and Waghorn provided him with a lot of problems. Went completely missing from his position when Gers scored a late equaliser.

Kieran Tierney 6 – Always had James Tavernier on the back foot when he got forward. Rangers couldn’t cope with the marauding full-back throughout the game.
Scott Brown 7 – It was a brilliant midfield display from the captain. He looked completely up for the fight on Sunday and highlighted that with his work-rate.
Nir Bitton 6 – Rangers were very physical in the first half and Bitton did an okay job of keeping up with their style of play. He was taken off at half-time by Brendan Rodgers.
Stuart Armstrong 9 – Constant menace to the visitors and must have covered every single blade of grass on the pitch in a brilliant display. He scored a beautiful powered drive from outside the area to open the scoring. Man-of-the match display from the 24-year-old.
James Forrest 6 – Did well to find Armstrong to set up his goal on his return to the side. It wasn’t a classic display from the winger but he definitely did his job.
Scott Sinclair 6 – Unfortunately it just didn’t go the 27-year-old’s way on Sunday. His dribbling and skill on the ball were great but ultimately there was barely any end product from the winger.
Moussa Dembele 6 – Everything was there for Dembele on Sunday except for a goal. It wasn’t his best day at the office but Celtic fans will never forget his hat-trick against Gers earlier in the season.
Callum McGregor (on for Nir Bitton 45min) 5
