Celtic player ratings v Rangers: Defender has a shocker
By Will Butcher
Football Insider rates the Celtic players after their 5-1 win against Rangers at Ibrox in the sixth Old Firm derby of the season.
Craig Gordon 7 – Unlucky not to stop Kenny Miller’s consolation but had little else to do throughout the match, as Celtic dominated proceedings in the Gers half.
Mikael Lustig 8 – Standard performance from the Sweden international, as he did his job without excelling. Sublime goal to score Celtic’s fifth as he curled in from the edge of the area.
Jozo Simunovic 5 – Had a shocker in comparison to his teammates. A number of risky tackles and at times the Croatian defender was beaten to the ball on numerous occasions by an out-of-form Martyn Waghorn.
Dedryck Boyata 8 – Solid. A number of important tackles kept the Gers at bay, as he continues to prove his importance after being ostracised earlier in the season. Humiliated the Gers even further to make it four from close range.

Kieran Tierney 8 – The teenager’s consistency at left-back is difficult to match, despite his tender age. Rarely gave possession away and was a constant threat down the left flank.
Scott Brown 7 – Combative as always, but a leader among men. Dictated tempo at the base of the Hoops midfield; showed class but also maturity.
Callum McGregor 7 – Greedy in the first five minutes, as he should have squared to Griffiths. Raw talent, and proved that with a sublime finish to score his second goal in two games.
Patrick Roberts 8 – Another display that proved the Manchester City loanee is coming on leaps and bounds. Won the penalty for Sinclair, as he drew the tackle from Myles Beerman.
Stuart Armstrong 6 – A surprisingly quiet performance from one of Celtic’s best performers all season, as he struggled to fend off Jason Holt.
Scott Sinclair 6 – Well-taken penalty under pressure to send Wes Foderingham the wrong way but did little else throughout the match.
Leigh Griffiths 9 – Absolutely sublime strike from the 26-year-old for his goal, who has had to play second fiddle to Moussa Dembele this season as his left-footed effort proved too powerful for Foderingham. Superb display in all areas.
James Forrest (On for Roberts, 72 mins) 6
Tom Rogic (On for Armstrong, 78 mins) 6
Kouassi Eboue (On for Brown, 90 mins) 6
